July Monthly Roundup
I have officially relocated to Portland, OR and honestly, I couldn’t have dreamed of a better place to rest for a bit. The summer weather is perfect- constantly in the 60 - 70s, Josh bought a car, and we found the perfect house in our dream neighborhood. Everything is buttoning up. Just need to lock in the fun stuff - jobs.
Coming from NY, its not an understatement to say that work=life. I met my best friends at work, I was constantly going out with my colleagues. I was honestly, one of the luckiest people ever to find such an amazing fit in work and culture. But with that, (and I don’t think I’m alone in this) comes a few identity issues. Who am I when I’m not at work. What do I talk about when we’re not hashing through the latest RFP or client call. I enjoyed looking at my work email! I enjoyed late nights! Is that a crazy thing to say?
But now that I’m on the west coast, I’m looking forward to reevaluating my priorities. Exploring my new city, taking a pottery class, rediscovering my music, and giving Brownie the best twilight years of his life. I can’t wait to move into our house and start a garden (HELLLLLLL YEAH). I want to create the perfect chai blend and allow myself to dream, to explore the possibilities of a cafe I’ve always dreamed of opening up. But it’s going to take some getting used to, to put myself and what I want to do, first.
So, yeah. Exciting stuff! Now I gotta figure out how to make friends out here…
