This past weekend, I got to escape NY w/ the help of Rally (aka my friend Justin). With 2 friends and 2 acquaintances (now, new found bffls), I got to explore a new town that I probably would've never got the chance to if Rally wasn't doing the coordinating. NY can swallow you up like that, can't it? We are our own prisoners and guards... (Thanks for the metaphor, Ryan.) But anyway, I blew some dandelions, rolled down a hill, took in some greenery, meditated in a sun room, and heard some magnificent stories from a woman named Willa. So, thank you, Rally, for getting me somewhere new with some amazing people. Thank youu...
Day #1
Once we left Bushwick on Saturday morning, we headed straight to Storm King. I had heard great things re: grass, hills, and plenty of room for activities. In the future, I'd highly recommend grabbing some sandwiches on your way up and having a picnic!
But alas, we did not, and instead grabbed lunch at Homespun Foods. I did not regret it.
The backyard was absolutely adorable. The exact vibes I needed. Post Lunch, we wandered along Main Street. Perusing shops like American Gypsy Vintage, Audioccult, and ending at Beacon Creamery. After checking in at our Airbnb, we came back for dinner at the Kitchen Sink, and ended our night chilling at the house. (Mostly cause I was exhausted and falling asleep at dinner.)
Day #2
Woke up, got bagels from Beacon Bagel, wandered and sat by a creek/waterfall for longer than I might care to admit (the one by The Roundhouse) before heading up to Beacon Mountain. Let me tell you. Shit was NOT easy, but we made it and it was amazing. Half of our group kept heading up to the top, while Marissa and I opted to take the car for a little joy-ride/sing along session (Mostly to Taylor Swift and Sheryl Crow) to go grab some ice cream and chill down by the river.
When the rest of the crew came down from the mountain, we swooped them, went back to the ice cream shop (YES WE LOVE ICE CREAM #judgeus) and capped our trip off with tacos at Tito Santana Taqueria outside enjoying the last few hours of sunshine before Monday hit.
It. Was. Magical.
