Weekly Round-Up

This weekly Round-up shtuff has been a bit haphazard. I promise I'm working on it. I like consistency just as much as the next guy. What's your favorite day to go internet exploring? Sunday? Wednesday? Hmmm. Lets go with Sunday for now. Expect these on Sundays! Until I forget or inevitably change up the schedule. (I said I liked consistency, not predictability.. ok?)

James Murphy on Failure

This interview features a super special clip of James Murphy talking about failure. I think its so crazy that he talks about Losing My Edge, and how no one liked it... THATS MY FUCKING JAM.. Seriously, that song has always spoken to me. fuck the cool kids.

Alessia Cara's Song Wild Things

And speaking of cool kids... Alessia Cara has been busy blowing my mind since June, and we've shared some pretty epic moments together. Including that one time at Newport Folk, pulling over seaside with Chris and Justin listening to "Here". And now, I can add jamming to "Wild Things" in the car with Elise and friends. The original is a bit more dance-y (you can find that on Spotify or on my "RacetotheCrockpot2015" playlist here). But this acoustic version is just as rad.

New Quilt Track

I like Quilt. Here's a new track of their next album. Can't wait for this to go on Spotify cause its gonna fit in purrrfectly on my "Real Chill Man" playlist.

"Everything I Am Afraid Might Happen If I Ask New Acquaintances To Get Coffee"

Wow... uh. Every single thought I have when asking new acquaintances to do anything really.
Sneak Peek:

  1. They will say no.
  2. They will say no and laugh at me for not having enough existing friends to get coffee with.
  3. They will not answer, and I’ll be left waiting for their response for months, unable to focus on anything else because I’m totally distracted imagining how they’re going to say no.
  4. They’ll say yes, but with a lack of enthusiasm just distinct enough that I’ll know they don’t really want to and are just too polite to decline, and then I’ll feel vaguely guilty the whole time we’re having coffee because it’ll be clear that they’d rather not be there.
  5. They’ll say yes, but on the way to the coffee shop I’ll be abducted, and they won’t know so they’ll think I stood them up and be really angry at me, and also I’ll be abducted.
  6. They’ll say yes, and we’ll have a perfectly nice time and bond over what it’s like being in our twenties and working in creative fields and struggling to find fulfillment on a day-to-day basis. It will slowly grow dark outside as we share and laugh late into the evening, and when we part we’ll agree that it was a truly lovely time and that we’ll definitely do dinner soon, and then we will never speak again.
  7. They’ll say yes, and we’ll have a great time and become fast friends and then they’ll make me go to their wedding and it will be expensive.
  8. They’ll wear something cooler than me to the coffee place.
  9. I’ll forget my wallet at home and not realize that I’ve forgotten it until after I’ve already ordered some complicated six-dollar coffee drink and then they’ll have to pay for me and they’ll think I only invited them to con them into buying me a fancy beverage.
  10. They’ll think I invited them to coffee because I have a crush on them.
  11. I will develop a crush on them.

Just me?
